Publicis, which edged incumbent Bozell Worldwide, WongDoody, Elgin DDB and KNCB/Dave, all in Seattle, will provide advertising, strategic planning and partnership development.

LOS ANGELES-Six magazine ad campaigns from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners and two from Publicis & Hal Riney, both San Francisco, are among the 25 finalists for this year’s Magazine Publishers of America Kelly Award. Other shops in the running for the $100,000 grand prize include Black Rocket and Leagas Delaney, both San Francisco; Borders, Perrin & Norrander and Wieden & Kennedy, both Portland, Ore.; and TBWA/Chiat/Day, Playa del Rey, Calif. The Kelly Award honors a creative team for magazine ad campaign excellence. The winner will be announced May 13 in New York.

Cole & Weber has won the estimated $5 million Bugle Boy Industries account, following a review. The agency prevailed over finalists Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners West, San Francisco, and D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, Los Angeles. Select Resources International, Los Angeles, conducted the review on behalf of the Simi Valley, Calif.-based apparel maker. Incumbent DDB Needham, Los Angeles, did not participate. … CitySearch, the Pasadena, Calif.-based online city directory, has opened a search for a new agency. Billings are expected to be about $1 million. Ground Zero, Santa Monica, Calif., had handled the account for about two years. CitySearch merged with Ticketmaster Online in September and went public in December. “The merger gave us access to new assets, which changes our advertising needs,” said company representative Nancy Lyon.
“Zoltak Joins Adweek Staff as Senior Reporter
LOS ANGELES-James Zoltak has joined Adweek as a senior reporter based in Los Angeles. Zoltak most recently served as West Coast editor for Amusement Business, a sister publication of Adweek that covers the live entertainment industry, and was previously a freelance reporter working exclusively for the Los Angeles bureau of Reuters. Prior to that, he was a staffer with the Associated Press in New York. At Adweek, Zoltak will cover Orange County, Calif., and selected agencies in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
