Hotels.com today named Victor Owens vp of marketing.
Owens will oversee Hotels.com marketing in the U.S. and Canada, including the “Smart” ad campaign. Young & Rubicam created the campaign for the travel-booking site last year. It featured an animated spokescharacter called “Smart,” voiced by The Office actor Ed Helms.
Owens hails from software startup WebIvy Solutions, where he served as principal of product strategy and marketing. Prior to that, he spent seven years at EarthLink, where he was most recently vp of marketing.
In his new role at Hotels.com, Owens will report to president David Roche.
The client spent more than $30 million in measured media in both 2008 and ’09, and $9 million through the first third of this year, per Nielsen.
