NEW YORK — Grey Direct has landed online creative and media duties for Sun Microsystems, the agency said.

The San Francisco shop, a division of Grey Global Group, beat out incumbents Tonic 360, Carat Interactive, both San Francisco, and Chicago shops Starcom IP and Novo/Giant Step. Billings were undisclosed.

Leagas Delaney in San Franciso, Fallon in Minneapolis and JWT & Tonic in San Francisco are all still vying a separate project for Sun, which spends an estimated $100 million a year on advertising.
