Gomez Biz Goes to DiMassimo

DiMassimo Brand Advertising has been named agency of record for Gomez Advisors, a Net-technology research group, after an East Coast review that began in December.
The Web site, based in Lincoln, Mass., expects to spend from $10-12 million on marketing this year, said Sandra McIntosh, Gomez brand director. “We’re very anxious to launch Gomez offline,” she said.
DiMassimo will break a national campaign during the second quarter.
Gomez comprises GomezPro.com, which sells professional research, and Gomez.com, which rates e-commerce sites.
“It’s the gold standard for judging Web brands,” said Lee Goldstein, new business director at the shop, which now claims total agency billings of $140 million.
The Gomez review included three other shops in Boston: Heater, Modernista! and Holland Mark Edmund Ingalls. Deutsch Boston withdrew from contention two weeks ago, a Gomez official said.
Gomez has no agency currently, though it has in the past worked with Partners & Simons, Boston.
“We’ve gone from winning smart, naive clients to getting the smartest of the smart,” noted Mark DiMassimo, the agency’s president and executive creative director.
