General Motors Sunday confirmed that Joel Ewanick, the automotive giant's chief global marketing executive, resigned as part of a management shuffle.
Ewanick joined General Motors in 2010 after a stint as marketing chief for Nissan North America. Prior to that he had been vp, marketing of Hyundai Motor America. Ewanick recently made bold and controversial moves that included stopping all advertising efforts on Facebook and opting out of spending on Super Bowl spots.
General Motors said its vp for U.S. sales and service, Alan Batey, will handle Ewanick’s global marketing duties in the interim. (This story is developing.)
