Game Software Marketer Starts Agency Search

Video game marketer 989 Studios, a division of Sony Computer Entertainment America, is conducting a review for its $15 million ad account, sources said.
Agency presentations will take place at the client’s Foster City, Calif., offices this week, said sources. Shops will provide a positioning strategy for 989 Studios and titles such as NFL Gameday, designed for Sony’s PlayStation. Duties will include print and broadcast creative and media, sources said. TBWA/Chiat/Day, Playa del Rey, Calif., which handles Sony, has created ads for 989. It is not known if the agency is a contender.
989, the third-largest PlayStation software publisher in North America, vies with Electronic Arts, Nintendo and others. The company did not return calls at press time.
