DALLAS-McGarrah/Jessee has picked up advertising duties on a project basis for Frost National Bank. The agency also has begun work on a national print campaign for clothing retailer Savane.
Frost vice president of marketing Martha Maynard said last week she chose the Austin, Texas, shop to develop recommendations for creative strategy after an informal review of undisclosed agencies.
Frost split with its agency of record, Anderson Advertising of San Antonio, last December. Billings for the account were undisclosed.
M/J partner Mark McGarrah said proposals are still being developed for Frost, but a campaign including print, TV and radio is likely to break as early as September.
Frost, headquartered in San Antonio, operates 50 branches around the state.
Maynard said the shop’s size (it now employs 13) and the experience of McGarrah and partner Bryan Jessee, along with recommendations from others in the market, contributed to her decision.
McGarrah and Jessee left their respective posts as vice president and account director and vice president and creative director at Austin’s GSD&M last September to form their own shop.
The two have recently capitalized on a relationship established with Savane while they were at GSD&M, landing a national print assignment from the El Paso, Texas, company.
McGarrah said Savane has asked his shop to develop a print campaign for a new line of golf pants that will be introduced nationally this fall.
Savane executives could not be reached at press time to discuss the project.
