Earthlink, CP+B in Talks on Creative

LOS ANGELES Internet service provider Earthlink is in negotiations to award Crispin Porter + Bogusky creative chores on its $50 million-plus ad account, sources said.

Agency officials declined comment. The Atlanta-based client could not immediately be reached.

Earthlink previously worked with Publicis Groupe shop Leo Burnett, but the two parted earlier this month [Adweek Online, March 5]. The move had been expected, as Chicago-based Burnett absorbed Earthlink creative agency LB Works in December and the shop’s contract with Earthlink expired last month, sources said.

CP+B, an MDC Partners shop with offices in Miami and Venice, Calif., had been a finalist for the Earthlink account in 2002, when it was awarded to LB Works of Chicago.

Incumbent buying and planning agency, independent Horizon Media in New York, remains on the client’s roster, according to sources.

Earthlink spent $100 million on ads last year, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
