DDB, General Mills Part Ways

CHICAGO — In what representatives called a global realignment, General Mills has parted ways with DDB Chicago, which handled a number of brands, including Yoplait, Betty Crocker, Bisquick and several cereals including Wheaties, Oatmeal Crisp and Golden Grahams. Those brands have not yet been reassigned, according to the company. Saatchi & Saatchi, New York, and Campbell Mithun in Minneapolis remain on General Mills’ roster. Billings on those brands were not disclosed.

The company is expected to name a winner, possibly by today, in the review for its $450 million broadcast media buying account. It was not clear what role the split with DDB will have on the chances of Omnicom’s OMD, which is contending for the media business along with Publicis’ Zenith Media and Interpublic Group’s Universal McCann.
