Today, DailyMail.com announced the appointment of Alicia Muntzner as U.S. chief revenue officer. Most recently svp of ad sales at The Weather Channel, Muntzner's 25-year media career includes a 17-year stint at NBCUniversal as well as time on the agency side at Chiat/Day and Adcamp Associates.
At The Weather Company, Muntzner first oversaw cross-platform selling and then sales for the TV network. But she isn't daunted by the switch to a digital media company. "I think the strength and breadth of my relationships in the marketplace will be substantial to the DailyMail," she said, "and I also think if you look at what [they are] doing in terms of video—producing over 650 daily—I think I can be a valuable asset there."
Muntzner, who takes her post on Monday, will report to DailyMail.com CEO and publisher Martin Clarke. She will focus on strengthening relationships and partnerships within the media world to capitalize on the site's 80 million monthly unique views, a number that puts it in the top 50 U.S. digital media properties, according to comScore.
"We're going to ensure that it's at the forefront of our agency and client partners, and it's going to be a must-buy for everybody," Muntzner said, "because it's a must-read for most."
Muntzner seems open to new pathways for growth, though she has no solid plans. "I start next week," she said, "so probably more to come on that front."
