NEW YORK Cordiant Communications Group, parent of Bates Worldwide, said Friday that it has appointed Nigel Stapleton as its chairman, effective March 1.

Stapleton, 56, will replace Charlie Scott, who in September announced his plans to step down from the British holding company. He will team up with CCG CEO David Hearn, 47, who filled Michael Bungey’s spot in January.

Meanwhile, CCG’s Bates is said to be close to naming a North America CEO, a post vacated by Bill Whitehead last May.
