Conill’s McFarlane Expands Role

NEW YORK Cynthia McFarlane, evp, managing director of Conill Advertising’s U.S. Hispanic business, has expanded her duties to assume the new post of president, Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi Latin America, she confirmed on Tuesday.

As president of Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi, she widens her executive role to include oversight of the organization’s business in Latin America while continuing to guide Conill in her new role as that company’s CEO.

For McFarlane, the added responsibility provides an opportunity to continue building on the company’s strong growth pattern for its domestic Hispanic business and for operations in Latin America.

“The focus is all about growth,” McFarlane said. “We have a lot of opportunities to create growth and … synergies between the U.S. Hispanic business and Latin America. This [new role] brings it into sharp focus for the organization.”

Previously, one executive had oversight of Saatchi’s operations in Asia, Europe and Latin America. “Now we’re breaking out the Americas,” said McFarlane, who will report to Mary Baglivo, CEO of Saatchi in New York and chair of the Americas.

McFarlane’s expanded duties also have resulted in other management changes at Conill: Carlos Martinez, gm of Conill’s operations in Los Angeles, now becomes managing director with oversight of the three agency offices in New York, Los Angeles and Miami, McFarlane said.

Overseeing the New York and Miami offices becomes the job of Roland Janisse, who moves up from his post as client services director of the agency’s East Coast businesses as gm, McFarlane said.

Conill’s estimated U.S. billings fall into the $100 million range.
