Clarke Remembers Tervis’ Early Years

ATLANTA Clarke Advertising and Public Relations is set to launch its first creative work for Tervis Tumbler Co.

Clarke’s corporate image campaign for the drinkware company goes back to the basics, said Dominique Leclezio, creative director at the Sarasota, Fla., agency, which was assigned the account in March without a review.

The newly designed Web site, print ads, stationery and trade show materials all feature aged paper stock and vintage images that recall the client’s mid-1940s origins.

“Our goal was to re-establish Tervis as the original in its category,” said Leclezio. “The brand now looks, reads and sounds like the 1946 Tervis Tumbler.”

Leclezio said that he wanted to communicate product benefits that appeal to Florida casual outdoor living while building public awareness.

“We wanted to include Tervis loyalists and welcome a new demographic,” he added.

The Tervis Tumbler Co. was founded in Osprey, Fla., in 1946. The company manufactures and markets insulated drink tumblers that have a lifetime guarantee.

Print ads, trade show materials and e-marketing programs are in the planning stages, said sources at Clarke. The newly designed Web site, featuring “Works like magic” as a tagline, goes live in two weeks.
