GM Planworks, Publicis Groupe’s dedicated media-planning unit for General Motors, has named chief operating officer Mary Carpenter executive vice president of the agency. Carpenter, who has been with the Detroit-based unit since its inception in 2000, oversees all operational aspects of the company, including human resources, finance, systems and internal product development. The promotion reflects the continued expansion of her role, as well as her leadership in getting GM to assign out-of-home media buying to Publicis’ Starcom in Chicago, according to Dennis Donlin, GM Planworks president.
