BBDO Scores E*Trade Account

E*Trade Financial awarded its $60 million creative account last week to Omnicom’s BBDO, the client said. The New York shop had produced a fourth-quarter campaign for the client after a review that began last summer was deemed inconclusive. BBDO prevailed over IPG’s The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va., when one of its ideas tested best in focus groups, the client said. Additional creative work is expected to break this quarter.

Omnicom, Publicis Split Schering

New York Schering-Plough said last week it consolidated its global pharmaceutical advertising and marketing business at Omnicom and Publicis. The Kenilworth, N.J.-based client spent $155 million on prescription drug ads in the U.S. in 2003, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus, and $185 million from January through October 2004. Its global spending on Rx ads is estimated to be more than $350 million. A client rep said no specific agency assignments have been made yet. Publicis’ Zenith already handles media duties for the client.
