Ex-MBRK Partner George Michael Reopens Under Michael & Partners Banner in Dallas
DALLAS–Former MBRK principal George Michael has resurfaced as owner of a new Dallas shop with an old name.
Michael has formed Michael & Partners, the original designation for his MBRK agency, which he sold to the Salt Lake City-based EvansGroup network in January 1997. The small agency with designs on the high-tech and health fields has put the gears in motion with a skin care product account, two staffers and a network of freelancers Michael has worked with in the past.
“That was the name I originally started with 15 years years ago,” Michael said. “It wasn’t part of the [EvansGroup] sale, and I was always partial to the name.”
The company this month introduces work for its largest client, Medi-Cell Laboratories, Fort Worth, Texas. Medi-Cell sells Hydrox-C, a line of skin care aids carried in major grocery, drug and health food stores. A mix of consumer and trade print advertising will be carried in magazines ranging from People and Redbook to Drug Store News and Discount Merchandiser. Michael contracted freelance creative director Poppy Sundeen of Dallas to produce the ads.
Michael said he also has done small project work for high-tech clients like Electronic Data Systems in Plano, Texas, since being ousted from Evans in Dallas last fall.
The original Michael & Partners was founded in 1983, renaming itself MBRK 10 years later to recognize partners Tom Bolger, Larry Reinschmiedt and Sue King.
