AOL to Webcast Pre-Grammy Performances

NEW YORK AOL Broadband this Saturday will present Clive Davis’s pre-Grammy Awards Gala, which will feature the performance of the musician the J Records executive is touting as the best new artist of 2004, Gavin DeGraw.

Music fans will be able to log on and judge for themselves once they watch the singer, songwriter and piano player perform, along with other headliners and up-and-comers, like R&B solo artist Heather Headley.

America Online teamed up with J Records to Webcast the invitation-only event live from the Regent Wall Street Hotel in New York at 10 p.m. on Saturday, the night before the 45th annual Grammy Awards on CBS. (AOL Keyword: Broadband Grammys).

Another feature related to the gala includes a rebroadcast of last year’s performances starting on Sunday, available to AOL members at aolmusic.com.

AOL said that last year the AOL Time Warner Internet unit brought the pre-Grammy party to more than 15,000 live views, as well as hundreds of thousands afterward.

“It’s rewarding to bring this incredible night of music to so many fans who want the inside look and feel of the event … This partnership with AOL has been extremely helpful in breaking artists such as Alicia Keys and Mario and bringing Rod Stewart to new heights,” said Tom Corson, executive vice president of worldwide marketing and services at J Records.
