The Gillette Co., Boston, broke a $40 million campaign from BBDO New York recently, bringing its various women’s shaving products under the Gillette for women banner. North American and European efforts include TV and print advertising, promotional materials and point-of-purchase items. Forty-five and 30-second spots carry the tagline, “Gillette for women. Are you ready?” They depict active, bare-legged women perching in trees, jumping on beds and shaving with various Gillette products. North American spending is $16 million, with $11 million allocated for television and $5 million for print.
