FLORIDA At the recent Prism Awards competition, Green Advertising of Boca Raton won a Gold Prism for its Addison Reserve Golf & Country Club print work. The agency was also recognized for its Wycliffe Golf & Country Club creative efforts and a logo design for Mizner's Reserve. The Prism Awards honor excellence in real estate, architecture and building advertising and design throughout Broward, Palm Beach and Martin Counties in Florida. American Airlines Publishing, publisher of American Way and Southwest Airlines' Spirit in-flight magazines, has opened an office in Miami to boost Latin American and Caribbean advertising. Barnett Price & Herrod Communications in Boca Raton has been selected to handle public relations for composer Tom Hartman. Hartman, who lives in Boca Raton, has written scores of jingles for an array of clients, including Coca-Cola, McDonald's, Disney Cruises, Blockbuster Video, Cadillac and Chevrolet. The Tampa Bay office of January & Associates recently developed promotional and public relations events for KFC's new line of chicken sandwiches in the Atlanta market. The effort included promotional tie-ins with the Atlanta Braves and World Championship Wrestling. GEORGIA Images USA, a minority-owned marketing communications firm in Atlanta, was named to Black Enterprise Magazine's 100s list. The list spotlights the country's largest black-owned companies in the industrial, automotive sales, financial and advertising fields. Crumbley & Alba in Atlanta has completed work on a localized version of NBC's public service campaign, "The more you know." The agency has signed celebrities such as country singer Mark Wills and baseball great Hank Aaron to appear in the spots that will run on NBC affiliate WXIA-TV. MARYLAND Carton Donofrio Interactive in Baltimore has been chosen to create new media programs for Art & Science Group and the American Corporate Counsel Association. NORTH CAROLINA Corder Phillips & Wilson in Charlotte has been named agency for the newest Crescent Communities development, the Landings and Lake Wylie. The account acquisition is the sixth Crescent property the agency has handled. Siemens Medical Systems' integrated services management division in New Jersey has placed its advertising account with The Zimmerman Group in Durham. New clients at Craig Jackson & Partners/Advertising in Chapel Hill include Governors Club Limited Partnership, developers of Governors Club and Governors Village, and Be Active North Carolina, a collaborative effort of the N.C. Health and Fitness Foundation and the N.C. Governor's Council of Physical Fitness and Health. The agency will also create Triangle United Way's 1998 advertising. TENNESSEE Creative Works, Nashville, has won a gold medal in Neenah Paper's Letterhead De-sign Contest for a self-promotional piece. Health Communications, Memphis, was recognized at Healthcare Marketing Re-port's 15th annual ad awards. The shop won silver and bronze laurels for its Humphrey Systems and Allergan work, respectively. TEXAS GSD&M, Austin, created a 30-second television commercial for the University Interscholastic League that promotes participation in extracurricular activities while addressing the issue of gang violence. The spot was funded by another of the agency's clients, SBC Communications of San Antonio. UIL is the organization that oversees extracurricular activities in Texas high schools. Rhymes & Co. Advertising, Houston, has launched a multimedia campaign for AccelerNet, a Houston-based provider of high-speed Internet access. "Access the fast lane for less" is the campaign tagline. CMark/Pennebaker, a joint venture of Pennebaker.LMC in Houston and Communications Mark in Mexico City, was hired to handle marketing chores for Amaritel, a telecommunications company based in Mexico City. Gugel Advertising, Dallas, was named media planning and buying agency for Overhead Door Corp. of Dallas. Billings were undisclosed and no details were provided on creative assignments. Goswick Advertising, Houston, recently launched a print ad in Dallas and Fort Worth for Newmark Homes. The ad offers a free year of TU Electric utilities with the purchase of a Newmark home. WarrenCordes+, Austin, was designated agency of record for Addressing Your Needs, a sales and marketing database company in Austin. Logos created by Witherspoon & Associates, Fort Worth, for the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce and FFP Partners were selected for inclusion in Print's regional design annual. Boswell & Partners, Houston and Dallas, won three Excel Awards at the Southeast Florida Builders Conference in Orlando. Awards for best brochure, 60-second radio commercial and four-color print ad recognized Boswell's work for Julington Creek Plantation in Jacksonville, Fla. Austin-based software developer Tivoli Systems has selected FG Squared, also in Austin, to create its interactive media. FG's initial assignments include the development of two CD-ROMs that will be used as sales tools. VIRGINIA Carter Ryley Thomas Public Relations & Marketing Counsel in Richmond has formed an in-house health science practice. That specialty accounts for almost 20 percent of the agency's $10 million in billings. Baron, McDonald & Wells, headquartered in Atlanta, has opened an office in Arlington. The branch will service the agency's clients in that region. Earworks Audio in Virginia Beach has recently completed work on custom music for the 13-episode PBS television series Living Well. The company is currently working on music for The Discovery Channel programs The New Detectives and FBI Files. Mumford Marketing Communications in Richmond has been named agency for The Berkley Hotel, which is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary. The account will initially involve print and broadcast creative duties, with direct marketing being added to the mix at a later date. Billings were undisclosed. Arnold Communications in McLean has developed a new Web site for the Landmine Survivors Network in Washington, D.C. The Meridian Group-Marketing Communications in Virginia Beach was appointed agency for Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel, Chartway Federal Credit Union and WTVZ-TV. The three new accounts will generate slightly more than $1 million in billings.
