Integrated communications company Ruido Group, which focuses on the Latino-youth market, has launched with the goal of helping brands effectively communicate with a rapidly growing and underserved demographic. The company, based in New York, will work with clients and agencies to devise and implement marketing solutions aimed at young Latinos, including consulting, advertising, nontraditional marketing, and interactive marketing. In its first client project, Ruido Group will work with Ogilvy & Mather on a multiplatform campaign for the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
Sports-marketing and public relations agency National Media Group has added several clients: Vector Sports Management; New Choices magazine; Health magazine; NBA Properties; and APBA International. Vector has hired the shop, which has offices in New York and Princeton, N.J., to assist in marketing efforts on behalf of Olympic gold medalist Marion Jones. New Choices has retained NMG to present the New Choices No Limits Tour, an interactive touring event that brings the magazine’s message of “Living even better after 50” to thousands of consumers ages 50 and up. To be held in the fall of 2001, the tour will make stops in at least four locations and provide exposure for key advertisers. NMG will also coordinate a wellness festival for Health magazine and its advertisers in fall 2001 to extend their visibility. Local and national companies will be re-cruited to take part in the festival. NMGPR is working on a national public relations campaign to promote NBA-licensed products for the holidays. APBA International has tapped NMG to lead a public relations and marketing campaign in support of the company’s redesigned product line.
Enterprise IG has opened a new office in Dearborn, Mich., to serve clients in the mid-America region. The mid-America office will be the brand- and identity- consulting firm’s fifteenth global location; other offices include one in New York.
BSMG Worldwide’s healthcare practice was hired by General Nutrition Cos., a specialty retailer of vitamin and mineral supplements and sports, nutrition and herbal products. The True North Communications-owned agency will provide public relations support for various new GNC proprietary products, as well as business, financial and corporate public relations support for GNC, duties formerly carried out by public relations firm Miller DeMartine. The New York-based unit will also develop and execute a nutrition-awareness program, teaming up with third-party groups to educate consumers on the benefits of supplements and the latest studies on nutritional supplements.
The Star Group was hired by Philadelphia Suburban Corp., a Bryn Mawr-based, investor-owned utility that serves nearly 2 million residents of Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio, New Jersey and Maine. The initial assignment includes creating and executing a corporate-positioning/brand-advertising campaign. The Star Group is based in Cherry Hill.

The MWW Group was hired to increase national recognition via a strategic media relations campaign for Camp Fire Boys and Girls’ fifth annual Absolutely Incredible Kid Day. The event, to be held on March 15, is a nationwide letter-writing campaign aimed at encouraging adults to write helpful, inspiring letters to children. The campaign taps the resources of youth-development organization Camp Fire’s 125 councils across the U.S. The Rutherford-based agency has seven other offices nationwide and is an independent brand of Golin/Harris International.

Roska Direct in Montgomeryville has signed an agreement with Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals to handle all relationship marketing for the ulcerative colitis drug Asacol and the drug’s Web site. The client is part of Procter & Gamble Health Care, a division of The Procter & Gamble Co.
