3 Los Angeles Media Chiefs Switching Jobs

The media landscape is changing in Los Angeles as three key executives have landed new jobs.
Lily Katz, senior vice president and group account director at Western International Media’s Los Angeles office, is joining J. Walter Thompson’s revamped Los Angeles office as media director. After heading up Western’s Walt Disney Co. account for the past two years, she will take charge of JWT’s media accounts, which include Bandai America, Saban Entertainment and 20th Century Fox.
“JWT is making a great commitment to [L.A.],” Katz said. “I’m looking forward to being part of that team.”
Separately, Fred Sattler, former director of media strategy at TBWA Chiat/Day, Venice, Calif., is returning to the fold after an 11-month stint at The Leap Partnership’s Los Angeles office. Sattler is reuniting today with his former Leap colleague Carisa Bianchi at TBWA C/D’s new San Francisco office. His title is managing partner and media director.
Meanwhile, George Hayes, senior vice president for media and communications director at McCann-Erickson’s Los Angeles office, is returning next month to the shop’s New York headquarters after two years on the West Coast.
Hayes will assume the newly created position of director of McCann’s agency of record accounts. He will primarily focus on Local Communications Inc., the agency’s partnership with Warren, Mich.-based Campbell-Ewald Advertising that handles local spot TV buying for General Motors. He will also continue to oversee media on the agency’s Nestle business.
Hayes, who cited family reasons for his return to New York, said, “I have mixed emotions, but this is a terrific opportunity. The GM business has grown over the last few years, and it became apparent that [the agency] needed someone to watch over it full-time.”
McCann has yet to hire a replacement for Hayes in Los Angeles.
