-The Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau, VisitLEX, has a new campaign that looks to the stars for tourism. Using an infrared laser, VisitLEX and a team of scientists and scholars from Lexington beamed a message toward potentially habitable planets in the TRAPPIST-1 solar system 40 light years away. The message, which was sent from the Kentucky Horse Park, is intended to invite extraterrestrial travelers to Lexington. The campaign, from Cornett, even created an Extraterrestrial’s Guide to Lexington.

-Former Forrester analyst Joanna O’Connell is joining Omnicom Media Group (OMG) as its first chief intelligence officer in North America.

-Apple is setting high expectations for its Vision Pro spatial computer by previewing the device’s Feb. 2 launch with an ad modeled after “Hello,” the film that introduced the iPhone in 2007.

-A Sphere will not be happening in London anytime soon, as MSG Entertainment has withdrawn its plan.

-To highlight some of its recently added features, Slack teamed up with agency Brand New School to create “The Big Meeting,” an ensemble song-and-dance number.

-The Gerety Awards are now open for the 2024 season. New York and Los Angeles have been chosen as the U.S. locations for the upcoming juries, along with 13 other global cities. And new for 2024, the jury will also be paying special attention to entries submitted into the Works for Good cut. The highest scoring campaign for environmental and sustainability will be awarded with a special award called the Gerety Earth Prize. Jury ambassadors have also been named. -Casey’s, the fifth-largest U.S. pizza chain, is searching for its newest role: Chief Pizza & Beer Officer. The position will serve as the utmost authority on sampling, researching and pairing Casey’s pizzas with the best beer combinations. Ideal applicants will have a high motivation to eat tasty pizza and responsibly drink ice-cold beer. To help Casey’s find the perfect candidate, the company is partnering with former Chicago Bears’ defensive lineman and internet personality, Anthony “Spice” Adams to promote the application process.

-There’s no AI in the latest promo from Tropicana. New limited time packaging from the brand has removed the letters ‘a’ and ‘I’ from the label to celebrate the leading orange juice brand’s natural ingredients, highlighting the fact that there is nothing artificial. The brand released the packaging at CES 2024, but for those who couldn’t be at the electronics show, bottles of ‘Tropcn’ have been hidden across participating Kroger family of stores nationwide. If you find a bottle in the wild, scan the code, and enter for a chance to win a trip to the original orange juice state, Florida.
