PeterPan2The 3-hour “Peter Pan Live!” on NBC last night averaged 9.12 million viewers in its live airing. Its biggest half hour was its first with 11.36 million tuning in. It petered out with just 6.99 million in the last half hour. The telecast averaged a 2.4 rating in A18-49 viewers.

That pales in comparison to last year’s “Sound of Music Live!” which drew 18.47 million viewers and a 4.3 in the A18-49 rating.

NBC had stiff competition last night from comedies on CBS, breaking news on cable and the Chicago Bears-Dallas Cowboys game in the 3rd and 5th largest TV markets, respectively.

Playing Peter Pan was Allison Williams, daughter of “NBC Nightly News” anchor Brian Williams who told TVNewser yesterday that he and his wife were watching from “an undisclosed location — close enough to the production as to burst through the stage door the moment the credits roll.”

More data: according to Nielsen, 5.3 million people saw one or more of the 475,000 tweets about last’s night broadcast. More than 147,000 Unique Authors sent tweets, which were seen 106.9 million times. By comparison, last year’s “Sound of Music Live!” tweets were seen 68.7 million times.
