Starz Removes 3 Canceled Shows From Streaming Service

Starz has pulled three of its recently canceled shows from its streaming service.

Dangerous Liaisons, Becoming Elizabeth and Step Up were all canceled in the past two months. And in the case of Dangerous Liaisons, the decision reversed a Season 2 renewal.

Now, the shows are leaving the platform entirely.

Unfortunately, it seems that removing shows from streamers is becoming the new normal.

Since the summer, HBO Max has continued to cancel and remove content, including at least six HBO Max original films, 20 original series and nearly 200 episodes of Sesame Street and various specials. The streamer also quietly dropped more than 250 Looney Tunes shorts.

And most recently, the streamer has axed at least six shows and plans to remove multiple titles from its library, including high-end HBO dramas Westworld and The Nevers. However, the company announced some of its canceled programs could appear on FAST services.

Deadline reports it’s unclear why Starz chose to remove the trio of shows but posits it could be part of Lionsgate’s plans to spin off its studio from Starz, which it anticipates doing in the near future, or because it might be looking to sell these shows to FAST channels and ad-supported streamers.
