Organic Closes Detroit Office

Omnicom digital agency Organic recently shuttered its Detroit office, according to multiple parties.

One source with direct knowledge of the matter confirmed that Organic has closed its physical office in Detroit, while noting that several Organic employees in Detroit are still working across a number of accounts. Another source added that BBDO began sharing space with Organic at the end of last year to work on the Ford business after that automaker named the former as lead creative agency last October.

A BBDO spokesperson declined to comment.

At this time, the reason for the change at Organic is unclear. It is also not clear where the remaining employees are headquartered. The agency listed a director of experience strategy job opening in Detroit two months ago.

Organic declined to comment directly on the office closing, but offered the following statement: “Under new CEO, Cathy Butler’s, leadership, the Organic leadership team has been working on finalizing, and putting in place, a strategy to revamp the agency—its positioning, offering and footprint—which we’ll be happy to share in the coming months.”

On that note, the news follows a series of recent leadership changes.

Last week, Organic hired Andrew Carlson from Digitas as chief experience officer in its New York office, effective September 3. Last month also saw the departures of chief creative officer Chris Kelly and chief operating officer Keith Pine from its New York office.
