Choice Hotels Taps Keegan-Michael Key for New Work from McKinney

Keegan-Michael Key flips waffles like a pro in a new campaign for Choice Hotels.

The new work from McKinney finds the actor and writer at numerous Choice Hotels properties, from the family and budget friendly breakfast room at Comfort Inn & Suites to the business room of a Radisson and the pool at one of the other Choice lodgings.

Choice has partnered with Key to remind guests that whatever the reason for their travel, Choice Hotels has a hotel for every type of trip and traveler.

In the new campaign, “A Stay For Any You,” Key plays a humorous mix of travelers to highlight Choice Hotels’ diverse portfolio of 22 brands. The campaign features four Choice brands—Radisson, Cambria Hotels, Comfort Inn & Suites, and Quality Inn and will run across broadcast, streaming TV, radio, social and digital platforms.

In the launch spot, Key brings to life different traveler characters, like the “Free-Hot Breakfast Hero” flipping a freshly-made waffle at a Comfort hotel and the “Business Big Leaguer” at a Radisson hotel confidently stating, “Go for Key!” The spot continues transitioning between different Choice Hotels brands and traveler types, with Key bringing his witty touches throughout.

“We crafted this campaign to bring to life all the different trip occasions that travelers have, and we knew Keegan Michael-Key would be the perfect person to embody all these different personas,” said Lyle Yetman, executive creative director at McKinney. “We worked hand in hand with Key and his wife and collaborator, Elle, to bring the scenarios to life in a way that felt authentic, true, and fun.”

Choice and McKinney previously worked with Zooey Deschanel, who was a “Fairy Hotel Mother” for the chain.
