Jacksonville Anchor Updates Viewers After Open Heart Surgery Last Week

WJAX-WJXT has updated viewers on where morning anchor Bruce Hamilton has been.

Just over a week ago, Hamilton announced he was stepping away for a while to have open heart surgery.

The anchor for the Jacksonville, Fla., station shared an update over the weekend with the station, saying he wanted to say “hi” to all of his morning show family and friends.

“It’s been a week since I had open heart surgery,” said Hamilton. “They replaced my heart valve and repaired the aortic aneurysm, but I’m well on the road to recovery. There have been some hurdles along the way and some challenges that have kept me here much longer than I’d like. But, you know what? I just wanted to let you know that I’m doing well and I thank everybody who’s emailed, written, called — it means so much to me. And thank you for your prayers, and I certainly hope to be back there with you on The Morning Show, just as soon as possible, love and prayers to everybody.”
