KING Seattle reporter Maddie White saved man’s life by administering Narcan while he was overdosing.
She told anchor Greg Copeland that she and a photographer for the Seattle NBC station were coming out of a Target after reporting in the area and saw a man who was keeled over and non-responsive.
She said he was barely breathing and quickly realized he was overdosing. She told Copeland she called 911 and then went into the nearest Walgreens, bought some over the counter Narcan and saved his life by giving it to him.
Paramedics arrived shortly after and took over from there.
A quick search of Google showed that Narcan (Naloxone) works by blocking the effects of opiates on the brain and by restoring breathing. Naloxone will only work if a person has opiates in their system.
