Molly Grantham to Leave WBTV After More Than 20 Years

By Kevin Eck

WBTV anchor Molly Grantham is leaving the Charlotte, N.C. CBS affiliate after more than 20 years.

“This is my decision. I want to be transparent and share this truth because I’ve built a career on being real with you guys, and don’t want to pretend my last show isn’t fast approaching,” she wrote on social media.  “Though I will no longer be anchoring your 5pm, 5:30pm, 6pm, and 11pm shows: I’m not going anywhere. I’ll still be in Charlotte, still speaking to your groups, moderating, emceeing, inspiring, empowering, and still working with local non-profits. My family deeply loves this community. We can’t imagine leaving.”

She joined the station in 2003.

“This is not ‘retirement,'” she added. “This is not to have “more time with family.” It’s because sometimes things change, and based on what’s in front of your face, it’s time to grow in a new direction.”
