Former KHOU executive news director Sally Ramirez is joining CNBC to work on Shepard Smith‘s upcoming show, The News With Shepard Smith.

Ramirez, who worked at the station for 22 years, will serve as executive producer on The News With Shepard Smith, which is slated to premiere on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.

She has a storied career in local journalism. At the Tegna station in Houston, where Ramirez led the newsroom for four years, the KHOU team won several prominent journalism awards, including an Emmy and the Alfred I. duPont and Edward R. Murrow awards.

Before that, Ramirez spent 17 years at KGW in Portland, Ore. She began her career as a producer at NBC affiliate KTSM in El Paso, Texas.

Smith left Fox News abruptly last October, and joined CNBC earlier this year. His new show will air live from the CNBC studios in Englewood Cliff, N.J.
