Las Vegas Helicopter Reporter Won’t Fly for New Station

By Kevin Eck

Helicopter reporter Ken Smith has been hired by Las Vegas Fox affiliate KVVU.

Smith last worked at crosstown CBS affiliate KLAS, but was let go last year, when station owner Nexstar cut the budget.

“I’m excited to officially announce that I will be joining the Fox 5 team starting March 14th as the station’s Traffic Anchor & Reporter!!!!!” he wrote on his Facebook page. “You might be wondering if I’m going to be flying again. The answer is no. I’ll be safer on the ground vs. flying 700 feet over the valley but I do miss that killer view from above.”

He says he expects his on-air debut to next Monday or Tuesday.
