WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids just opened two streetside studios, one in Grand Rapids and another in downtown Kalamazoo — the bureau had been shut down for years.
They also hired a new reporter to work out of the News 8’s new home in Kalamazoo.
The Nexstar-owned NBC affiliate hired Brady Gillum to come to the station from Casper, Wyoming, where he was an anchor and reporter.
“This new partnership allows 24 Hour News 8, eightWest and Maranda Where You Live to be in the heart of the city,” said WOOD TV Director of Operations, Kevin Ferrara.
The downtown studio overlooks Bronson Park. It’s equipped with cameras inside and on the roof.
Kalamazoo bureau is based out of the Comerica Building – the same building it occupied in the 80s. The Grand Rapids studio is a joint-venture between the Grand Rapids Art Museum and the station.
