Former Lansing Chief Meteorologist Joins Chicago Station

Emily Wahls has been named chief meteorologist for Chicago Fox-owned station WFLD.

She’ll start at WFLD on Sept. 27, and will work the station’s weekday 4, 5 and 9 p.m. newscasts.

Wahls recently left WILX in Lansing, Mich., where she was the chief meteorologist. Before WILX, she spent seven years at WLNS in Lansing, where she went from fill-in meteorologist to weekend meteorologist and then weekday morning meteorologist.

Vice president and news director Matt Piacente said Wahls is the prefect fit for the station because of her “broad knowledge of meteorology and specific experience forecasting the varying weather conditions in the Midwest.”

Wahls said she is thrilled to join the station. “Living in Chicago has always been a dream of mine, and my family is excited to experience everything the city has to offer,” said Wahls.
