Liam Martin (holding T-shirt) celebrated his last day at Boston CBS-owned station WBZ on Friday.

Martin, who has been with WBZ for almost a decade, called it “bittersweet” to step away and said he is leaving local TV.

“It was not an easy decision,” Martin said during Friday’s broadcast.

“I am really excited about what’s next,” Martin said. “I want to be able to be a full-time dad and focus on that role, full-time husband.“Monday morning, Daddy’s gonna be there (home) for breakfast.”

Martin said he will be working in communications and public relations.

Before joining WBZ in 2015, Martin worked as a general assignment reporter at Boston’s WCVB. He began his journalism career as a Celtics columnist for NESN.
