Baltimore Station Employee Has Car Stolen from Parking Lot Overnight

A WBFF employee had their car stolen from the parking lot of the Sinclair owned Baltimore station and the theft was caught on surveillance.

The video showed three suspects breaking into the car through the front passenger side window, and then stealing the car at around 1:30 am September 11.

“They looked like they got their tools and they came and started kicking the car. They broke the window. A guy climbed through the window and the next thing you know they’re playing with the ignition and it’s off,” said Kiera Atkins, the employee whose car was stolen.

Atkins works overnight at the television station, and didn’t realize her car had been stolen until she went to go home around 8:00 a.m.

“I’m like, ‘where’s my car?’ I’m clicking the button,” said Atkins.

Baltimore averages about 27 cars stolen a day so far this year, which is an increase of more than 200% compared to the number of auto thefts, this time last year.

“The general reason why cars are stolen or carjacked is to provide a vehicle to commit other crimes. And by and large those crimes are committed by juveniles. Some as young as 12-13 years old,” said law enforcement expert Jason Johnson.
