“Nightline Has a Threesome”

By Brian

(I stole the headline from E!’s story.) Morning paper highlights:

> Matt Zoller Seitz in the Newark Star Ledger: “It’s all enough to make one’s head spin. Will Nightline suddenly turn into Dateline? Can we really even call it Nightline if it has multiple topics, anchors and origin points?”

> Media Life Magazine: “ABC can use Nightline as a test tube of sorts to see what works. The new format mimics one that ABC World News Tonight is rumored to be considering, that of multiple anchors.”

> NY Daily News: Andrew Tyndall‘s analysis: “So it’s going to be one-third true crime, and that will be McFadden, one-third politics, and that will be Moran, and one-third celebrity news, which will be Bashir.”

> Gail Shister in the Philadelphia Inquirer: The new Nightline will be live every night. “Most TV experts welcome the change. Koppel stopped going live every night in ’93, and in ’00, he cut his workload to three nights a week.”
