NBC Nightly News “widened the gap over its competitors to double-digits for the week of October 10-14, 2005,” but World News Tonight was #1 in the 25-54 demographic for the second consecutive week.

Nightly News averaged 9,186,000 total viewers, 11% more than ABC’s 8,312,000 and CBS’s 6,907,000.

In the 25-54 demo, ABC had a 2.5, NBC had a 2.4 and CBS had a 1.8. WNT “is the only evening newscast to display growth (+3%) in the key demo 4th quarter-to-date. NBC’s Nightly News is down 1% and CBS Evening News is down 4% 4th quarter-to-date,” ABC’s press release says.

However, “among even younger viewers — adults 18-49 — Nightly News was top rated with a 1.8 rating, ABC placed second with a 1.7 and CBS was third with a 1.2 rating,” NBC adds.
