London 7/7: On A Day Like This, Don’t Forget About “Mission Control”

By Brian

CNN co-anchors Miles O’Brien and Soledad O’Brien now officially receive the award for the longest continuous anchoring of the London terror attacks today. When ‘American Morning’ commenced at 7am, the duo didn’t know they’d anchor for nine straight hours. But the network decided to keep them on the air until 4pm ET.

“Tired yet?,” TVNewser asked Miles O’Brien this afternoon. “I’ll be tired when the tally light is doused!,” he replied, and credited a “perfect combination of caffeine, sugar and makeup.”

And Miles made an important point: “It is like being an astroanut at the top of the rocket — you get the glory and the thrill — but you ain’t nothin’ without mission control….and we have one helluva a mission control.”

> Also: “Believe it or not, this is a special edition of American Morning as we are going into 3:30 on the East Coast,” Soledad said a few minutes ago…
