London 7/7: Nine Hours Of The O’Brien’s On CNN

By Brian

> Update: 2:40pm: Miles O’Brien and Soledad O’Brien are still anchoring live coverage of the London attacks on CNN. The ‘American Morning’ duo has been on since 7am.

CNN was planning to simulcast CNN International for a couple of hours, but the decision was made to keep Miles and Soledad on the air. Wolf Blitzer will anchor from 4 to 6pm.

“CNN Atlanta is now officially extinct,” an e-mailer proclaims: “All breaking news of London bombings is coming from NYC, then will be simulcast from CNNI, then will go to DC and back to NY.” But the newsgathering operation operates out of Atlanta, and you can bet the whole CNN Center building is very busy this afteroon.

> Later tonight: Anderson and Paula will anchor from 7 to 9pm; Aaron and Paula will anchor from 10 to midnight; and CNNI will air until 5am.

> Update: 4:10pm: “How do you spell relief?,” The Corner asks: “W-O-L-F. CNN is letting American Morning end…finally…and letting Blitzer take over coverage. Thank you. Soledad Watch is over.”
