New Role for ‘Now with Alex Wagner’ EP

Dana Haller, who worked her way up from executive assistant to MSNBC president Phil Griffin to executive producer, is taking on a new role at the network.

An MSNBC source reveals exclusively to TVNewser that Haller has been promoted from “NOW with Alex Wagner” EP to the newly-created role of Senior EP of Strategic Content. Haller has been with the show since its debut — originally at NoonET — in Nov. 2011. A replacement will be named soon.

Haller will now focus on initiatives including developing, producing and executing sales and marketing partnerships.  She has previously overseen projects like the Global Citizen Festival and the Caterpillar partnership.

On Tuesday, the day of the State of the Union, the 4pmET “NOW” averaged just 26,000 A25-54 viewers, tying “First Look,” which airs at 5amET. 4pm cable rivals “The Lead with Jake Tapper” on CNN and “Your World with Neil Cavuto” on FNC have trounced the MSNBC show. On Tuesday, Tapper averaged 137,000 viewers in the demo. Cavuto, who is No 1 in the timeslot, averaged 189,000. Even HLN’s new show, “The Daily Share” edged Wagner in the hour for the demo.
