May Cable Ranker: Fox News No. 1 in Total Day

By A.J. Katz

Fox News was basic cable’s most-watched network for May 2016 in total day, up 18 percent from May 2015, a month when it finished No. 5 in the category.

Nickelodeon, TNT, Adult Swim, USA, HGTV, Cartoon Network, Nick-at-Nite, ESPN, and Investigation Discovery round out the month’s 10 most-watched basic cable nets in total day.

Fox News was No. 3 among all prime time basic cable networks in total viewers after finishing No. 2 in April. Going up against prime time coverage of the NBA conference finals on TNT and ESPN, respectively, likely had something to do with the slight drop in the rankings. That said, Fox News was up in total prime time viewers month-to-month and year-over-year. All should be considered well right now for the network from an impressions perspective.
