ABC’s Good Morning America won both the week of May 23, and the May 2016 sweep in total viewers, while the Today show won both in the A25-54 demo. Meanwhile, CBS This Morning was the sole broadcast morning news program to see year-over-year improvement for the week and the sweep.
GMA was down 7 percent in total viewers and down 14 percent in the demo from May 2015 sweeps. Today was down 1 percent in both. Despite remaining in third, CBS This Morning was up 4 percent in total viewers and up 6 percent in the news demo vs. May 2015.
For the week of May 23, GMA finished No. 1 in total viewers, and Today was No. 1 in the demo. Today and CTM were both up in total viewers and A25-54 from the same week in 2015. GMA, on the other hand, was down in both categories.
The same week last year included Memorial Day 2015. As a result, only 4 days were rated that week.
