Netflix is ramping up its slate of programming aimed at young kids with new and returning shows, starting this fall.
This includes the reboot of Teletubbies, narrated by Tituss Burgess, on Nov. 14, which sees Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po go on new adventures.
Other new shows include Princess Power (2023), a celebration of girl power and self-expression that follows princesses of four significant fruit kingdoms, and Spirit Rangers (Oct. 10), which explores the adventure and beauty of nature through the eyes of Kodi, Summer and Eddy Skycedar, Chumash/Cowlitz siblings who share a secret.
Returning shows include new seasons of Waffles + Mochi’s Restaurant (Oct. 17) and Gabby’s Dollhouse (Nov. 1) and new iterations of StoryBots (Nov. 21) and Cocomelon (2023).
Netflix’s commitment to its growing preschool slate comes as HBO Max is pulling back from its kids’ content.
HBO Max recently canceled the comedy series Gordita Chronicles and Ellen DeGeneres’ preschool series Little Ellen, followed by the removal of nearly 200 episodes of Sesame Street, along with select specials.
Following the cancelation of the Gordita Chronicles, the streamer said, “Live-action kids and family programming will not be part of our programming focus in the immediate future.”
