
Nominations for the 80th Golden Globe Awards on Monday showed streaming still reigns supreme.
Netflix and HBO/HBO Max tied for the most TV nominations, nabbing 14 each.
Netflix was nominated for five series: The Crown and Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story with four each, Ozark with three, Wednesday with two and Inventing Anna with one.
HBO Max saw nominations for seven series: The White Lotus and Hacks with three; Barry and House of the Dragon with two; and Euphoria, The Flight Attendant and The Staircase with one each.
Hulu followed with 10 nominations. Apple TV+ had six, and AMC/AMC+ had two. Disney+, Paramount Network, Showtime and Starz each had one nomination.
This is not the first time Netflix and HBO/HBO Max have gone head-to-head during awards season.
During this year’s Creative Arts Emmys, HBO/HBO Max beat out Netflix in a reversal from 2021.
HBO/HBO Max and Netflix were neck and neck heading into this year’s Primetime Emmys, but the distance between the two competitors only grew during the ceremony as HBO/HBO Max overcame Netflix, winning a total of 38 Emmys to Netflix’s 26.
In 2021, Netflix took home 44 Emmys, more than double HBO and HBO Max’s 19.
