And just like that, there was a second season.

HBO Max has renewed Sex and the City spinoff And Just Like That… for Season 2

The series follows Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.

Season 1 ended with Carrie moving on after the death of Big (Chris Noth) with an elevator lip lock with her podcast producer Franklyn (Ivan Hernandez) and Miranda flying off to Los Angeles to be with partner Che (Sara Ramirez).

But from Samantha’s (Kim Catrall) notable absence to sexual assault allegations against Noth, leading to writers scraping his appearance in the season finale and the polarizing new character Che, the spinoff has been controversial to say the least. Still, viewers kept tuning in, and the spinoff delivered the strongest debut of any HBO Max original series to date.

“I am delighted and excited to tell more stories about these vibrant, bold characters – played by these powerful, amazing actors. The fact is, we’re all thrilled. And Just Like That… our Sex life is back,” said executive producer Michael Patrick King in a statement.

“We have been delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max. “We are proud of the work Michael Patrick King and our wonderful writers, producers, cast and crew have done to bring these stories to the screen. We can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store for Season 2!”
