Super Bowl 55 Ratings Fall 15% to 96.4 Million Multiplatform Viewers

CBS had been hoping that Super Bowl 55 would be a down-to-the-wire nail-biter between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Instead, the game turned out to be a lopsided victory for the Buccaneers—which resulted in the smallest overall Super Bowl audience in 14 years. (Adweek)

Super Bowl LV averaged 96.4 million viewers across TV and streaming, according to CBS. That number was down from last year’s Super Bowl, which averaged roughly 102 million viewers across Fox and streaming. (CNN Business)

It’s the smallest total tune-in for a Super Bowl since 93.18 million people watched Super Bowl XLI in 2007. The game had an average audience of 5.7 million on streaming platforms, an all-time high for the Super Bowl. (THR / Live Feed)

In local metered markets, Kansas City led with a 59.9 and 87 share. That number, up 8 percent from last year’s Chiefs victory, is the highest rating ever for a Super Bowl in that market. Boston, the former home of current Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady, ranked second in local markets with a 57.6 and a 78 share. (TVSpy)

Spotify said overall streams of The Weeknd shot up nearly 220 percent on its platform in Tampa, Fla., from 11 p.m. to midnight ET on game night, and the two top tracks were “Blinding Lights” and “Save Your Tears.” (Adweek)
