By Christine Zosche

The sweepstakes to land a massive overall deal with Bad Robot, the famed production company run by J.J. Abrams and his wife and co-CEO Katie McGrath, is nearing the finish line. (THR / Live Feed)

The deal covers movies, television shows, video games, consumer products, music and digital content for a WarnerMedia streaming service set to arrive early next year. It was unclear whether Abrams will continue to accept directing jobs at rival studios, a perk that was part of his previous deals. (NYT)

Abrams, of course, has the history at WarnerMedia as Bad Robot had been based at Warner Bros. TV for many years, delivering a string of series. Of the company’s current shows, three are at WarnerMedia’s HBO: Westworld, Lovecraft and Demimonde. (Deadline)
