There is a passing of the creative torch at Mojo Supermarket, as the agency has appointed two top talents to serve as the company’s first-ever executive creative director and group creative director. Jono Paull has been elevated from group creative director to executive creative director while Kate Carter has been hired as the company’s newest gcd, joining from Spotify.
Founder Mo Said will remain a part of the creative process at Mojo Supermarket, while Paull will oversee Mojo’s creative team to ensure the company’s creative output continues on its mission of creating great work that changes the way people think.
Carter will collaborate with Paull and will work closely with Mojo’s leadership team. The two will continue to guide the company’s younger creative talent.
“Mojo Supermarket has officially entered a new era. One I envisioned when I started the company a few years back, but still sometimes can’t believe is happening in real life,” said Said in a statement. “With this though comes a new focus for myself and for the creative team. Jono running the ship on all our creative output is exactly what we need to get Mojo moving into this next phase. And with a strong talent like Kate coming in to help lead and foster the best creative team I’ve ever worked with, I’m just so excited.”
Paull has been with Mojo Supermarket for a year and has helped create some of the shop’s top work for its brand partners including Truth Initiative, Hydrow, StockX and others. Prior to Mojo, Paull spent time at agencies including Droga5, Leo Burnett and McCann.
“I’m incredibly honored to be asked to take on this new role leading up one of the best creative teams out there. It’s been a surreal time since I joined Mojo a year ago, and what we’ve managed to build, grow and create has been nothing short of remarkable. And now we have another incredible talent helping to push our creativity even further. I’ve worked with Kate in the past and knew she’d be a perfect leader on the team. She’s a brilliant creative and I can’t wait to see what she makes with us,” said Paull in a statement.
Carter joins Mojo from Spotify where she spent time as a creative director working on projects including the iconic Wrapped campaigns as well as with notable artists including Megan Thee Stallion, Kacey Musgraves and Celine Dion. Prior to Spotify, Carter worked at shops including Droga5, R/GA and Anomaly.
“I honestly thought I’d never work at an agency again, but what Mo, Jono and team have built feels less like a traditional agency and more like a necessary stopping ground for brands to stay relevant. At the end of the day, we all just want to make fun, smart, refreshing work, and that’s what you’re seeing out of Mojo,” said Carter in a statement.
This past year, Mojo Supermarket has seen considerable growth and top industry accolades. The company’s Girls Who Code DojaCode work was a top winner at award shows bringing home a Clio Grand award, two One Show Best of Disciplines, and two Gold Cannes Lions. The company has also brought in new clients including Ray-Ban, Bleacher Report, Movano and StockX.
