Little Big Men: Biggs Gilmore

By SuperSpy

There are a lot of agencies in the world. We noticed that we spend a lot of time talking about the death stars (like McCann Worldwide) and mega-rebel alliances such as Droga or CP+B. The galaxy is full of smaller agencies that are doing bad, good and great work that is worth taking note of.

An agency caught our eye this morning. Why? Lets start with mentioning that Biggs/Gilmore won 20 WebAwards in an annual competition sponsored by the Web Marketing Association. Twenty. Naturally, the Michigan based shop made the list of most awarded agencies. In 2007, they took home the Top Agency Award. This year, they were second. They beat out Tribal, Avenue A, all the usual suspects.

Pretty sweet. The agency, founded in 1973, has quietly been holding down interactive work for clients such as Kellogg’s, Kimberly-Clark and Johnson & Johnson. From 2006 to 2007, the shop increased revenue by 10.5%. Nice job.

BG is run by Mike Gerfen, President and Jane Tamraz, CEO. Tamraz is a true Michigan woman having gone to Michigan State University and worked as the director of marketing for a Michigan-based health-care system before joining Biggs|Gilmore.
Andy Gould is the ECD along with Marino Puhalj. Darrel Smith is the vice president of interactive-services department with Dean Suarez-Starfeldt strategic-planning function.

We’ll be keeping an eye on them from here on out.
