WPP-backed Johannes Leonardo has hired Hope Nardini as creative director in its New York headquarters. Nardini hails from McCann New York, where she was a part of the team that created the first of Verizon’s two “First Responders” ads that appeared in the past two Super Bowls.
At McCann New York, she also was involved in the making of the Ad Council’s integrated “She Can STEM” campaign that encourages girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
Nardini joins Johannes Leonardo’s New York creative department, specifically focused on the MassMutual account alongside creative director Kevin Watkins. She will report to co-founders Jan Jacobs and Leo Premutico.
“The industry knows Johannes Leonardo for its high caliber of creativity,” Nardini said. “They set the bar really high. I am excited to be part of their growing team and work alongside some of the best in the business.”
A little more on Nardini:

“Hope’s track record for creating impactful moments for global brands makes her the perfect addition to Johannes Leonardo,” said Jacobs, who is also the chief creative officer of Johannes Leonardo. “This year, we have put a specific focus on bolstering our creative ranks in order to support a year of rapid growth. We are excited for Hope to join us as we continue to help brands find meaning in today’s market.”
Both Campaign and AdAge recently reported that Johannes Leonardo bought back an unspecified portion of its minority stake from WPP. Spokespeople declined to comment.
